The Minister of Oil: Initial Agreement to Export Oil from Kirkuk to Iran.

Export agreement with Iran

The minister of oil declared the signature of an initial agreement between Iraq & Iran to export the Iraqi oil from Kirkuk fields to Iran with an average of 30 to 60 thousand barrels/ day and can be increased.

Via the tankers until the completion of the extension of the oil pipeline for this purpose.

Mr. Jabbar Ali Hussein Al-Luiebi the minister of oil said that the meeting minutes which was signed between SOMO Company and the Iranian party in Baghdad provides that the Iraqi party transports the mentioned quantities by the tanker trucks to the common border between the two countries near Kermanshah. While the Iranian party delivers the same quantities and specifications via the common borders in the south of Iraq.

Mr. Al-Luiebi said also that this agreement contributes to add a new exportation terminal to Iraq to export oil from Kirkuk and achieve financial outcome. As well as improves the economic relations with the nearby countries.

Mr. Al-Luiebi said also that the agreement will be followed by the final agreement signature soon with the Iranian party after the agreement on some technical & executive issues. He also confirmed on the keenness of Iraq to improve the relations with the neighbor countries.

At the same time, the government is planning to execute strategic oil projects which can strengthen the bilateral cooperation with Turkey, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Syria… as well as the Arab and friend countries.
