Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, inspected on Wednesday night the work progress of the Nisour Square development project.
The project aims to tackle traffic congestion in the capital, Baghdad, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
During his inspection tour, Al-Sudani directed employees at the construction site to maintain the pace of work and adhere to timetables, specifications, and international standards.
The Iraqi Prime Minister met with the workers on the night shift and listened to a detailed presentation on the work progress and the most prominent obstacles.
Al-Sudani valued the efforts made by the working team to carry out this important and vital service project, which reflects the government’s seriousness in implementing development and its credibility in providing service to citizens.
In September 2007, Nisour Square witnessed a massacre when employees of Blackwater, a private military company contracted by the US government to provide security services in Iraq, shot at Iraqi civilians, killing 17 and injuring 20 while escorting a US embassy convoy.
