Iraqi PM discusses economic cooperation with the Netherlands

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, affirmed on Tuesday Iraq’s eagerness to develop economic relations with the Netherlands.

The Prime Minister’s statement took place during his meeting with the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hanke Bruins Slot, where he stressed the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation in different sectors, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Al-Sudani hailed the Netherlands for its efforts to bring about a cease-fire, end Israeli aggression against the Palestinians in Gaza, and help the Palestinians in their difficult humanitarian conditions.

The Iraqi leader indicated the government’s eagerness to continue cooperation with the NATO Mission in Iraq (NMI) in the areas of training and advice provision to Iraq’s security forces, considering the clear growth in the capabilities of the Iraqi armed forces and the defeat of ISIS groups, which no longer pose a threat to Iraq’s security.

The Iraqi Prime Minister welcomed the participation of Dutch companies in Iraqi strategic projects such as the Al-Faw Grand Port and the Development Road.

Slot expressed the Dutch government’s aspiration for Al-Sudani’s upcoming visit to Amsterdam, indicating that it represents an opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The Dutch Foreign Minister also affirmed that the Netherlands supports efforts aiming to achieve a cease-fire in Gaza, prevent the spread of conflict in the region, and open the way for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
