Shedding Light on Recent Oil & Gas Pipeline ‎Projects in Iraq.‎

Ahmed Abdulhameed Al-Jibawi

Abstract:‎

The Iraqi government, represented by the State Company for Oil Projects ‎‎(SCOP) and Oil Pipelines Company (OPC), has accomplished several vital oil ‎and gas pipeline projects since 2023. The pipelines vary in diameter from 10 to ‎‎42 inches, and in length from 1 km to more than 120 km. The pipelines serve to ‎deliver several hydrocarbon fluids: crude oil, dry gas, LPG, fuel oil, and light ‎products. These pipelines extend from oil and gas fields, refineries, crude oil ‎depots, and ports to feed power stations, refineries, industrial plants, gas plants, ‎and oil product depots. Generally, nine of these projects target power stations. It ‎is worth recording that 10 out of 22 of the projects are planned to transport dry ‎gas, which reflects the governmental efforts to resolve gas shortages. The total ‎length of the pipelines is more than 1000 km. ‎
